Transferring to SMU

I am going to Tulane next year after rejecting my spot at SMU. But now I really wish I had chosen SMU. Even though it is after May 1st, I called and asked if there was any way I could get my spot back and SMU said that unfortunately the class was full. Do you think that if I apply I would be able to transfer to SMU spring semester?

I would talk to them about getting a spot in the Spring 2019 entering class and do a semester at community college. I would not go ro Tulane and transfer. It’s too expensive and academically and socially intense for you to be there wishing you were somewhere else. You should try to save your money and go where you really want to be. Best of luck to you!

@buttercup2018 I think if you try to apply for a spring transfer you would be able to. I would recommend as @njdad68 said and don’t waste your money at Tulane, go to community college for your first semester (it’s cheaper) and get your general curriculum done before you start your spring semester, it will be more cost effective and you will not be behind your class! Best of luck

I recommend taking
Some sort of MATH
Foreign language
English course
Religion course if possible since SMU requires it
And maybe some other intro courses that correspond with your major!

religion is a broad term and philosophy and most psych classes count. Just do the curriculum you would at tulane that most freshman would. if transferring for business take calc, stat, micro and macro econ.

@jamesk2014 it was one example of a class she could take… yes religion is broad I was simply informing her of what SMU requires so she would know what to look into.

gotcha gotcha

Buyers remorse is natural at this time of the year. If you want to start at Tulane, go in with a good attitude. There must be reasons you chose it over SMU. You may get there and love it.

If you are sure you want to be at SMU not Tulane find out if you can take a gap year and start next fall. You obviously meet SMU criteria for admission. You could do something interesting for a year and then start on schedule with an entering class.
