Transferring to Syracuse after 1 semester at community

So right now I'm at Onondaga community college, I have 15 credit hours set up so far for this semester and I'm really looking to transfer after a semester here. I originally applied to SU but was denied and coming to OCC was the next best thing I could do to be right near SU and talk to advisors over there face-to-face, and to move away from home. My high school GPA was a 3.2 and I had a 21 ACT and a 1550 SAT. I know that if I don't have 30 credits SU will also look at high school grades.

So my question is, if I want to re-apply to SU at the end of this semester, would getting around a 3.6-4.0 GPA at OCC really push my chances of getting in? My dad was an alum. and i know SU loves their alums for some reason, they mentioned it in my denial letter. I really am looking forward to working hard this semester to go to my top choice school, also a semester at community will save some money compared to all 4 years at SU.

Thanks!

Realistically, you will have to spend two semesters before transferring. If you get denied out of high school, a semester at the local CC will have a small impact on them re-evaluating their decision. Give it 2, try your hardest, and you can do it. Even if you don’t get in on the second try, you can be assured admission to Syracuse after completing your A.A., here is the link: http://admissions.syr.edu/whoyouare/transferstudents/communitycollegepartnerships/
