I am currently a sophomore at Texas State University in San Marcos. I recently have just applied to Texas A&M University. I am a communications major which means I applied to the school of liberal arts. My current GPA is 3.04 with 46 completed hours but by the end of this spring I should have 58. I have volunteered in numerous events within my university and am also actively involved in a few different orgs and activities. Texas A&M requires 24 completed hours and at least a 2.5 for your application to be reviewed, but the school of liberal arts reccomends at least a 3.0. I know my GPA isn't "perfect" but, I was wondering if anyone has a similar experience and can tell me where my chances sit.

Like 1 out of 100, or, more like 1 out of a million. So Im telling you theres a chance!! (Dumb and Dumber reference?)

Seriously though, Id say you stand a pretty good chance, especially if you can raise your GPA after this semester – you for sure dont want it to go down.

I go to UT but from what I understand acceptance rates are pretty similar (I also am a Communications major). I had like a 3.4 and less hours than you when I applied to transfer and I got in, so that makes me think you will be alright. Texas State is a great transfer school, Id say yall get first priority when Texas Universities looks at applicants.

My major is Industrial Engineering, I go to Florida International University, have a 3.2/3.0 overall/pre-profesional GPA, 57 credits completed but currently (Spring 2013) taking 14 credits. Those credits Being Calc 3, Diff Eq, Programing and Marketing. I’m pretty sure I will end this semester with all A’s. So, come May, I’ll be sending TAMU a new set of transcripts with a GPA boost.

Does anyone know my chances of getting in?? Please let me know!

Most of the majors want at least a 3.0…some even higher. The other important item is to make sure you have taken to correct course work. I would recommend you contact a TAMU admissions counselor. Having a high GPA without the correct course work will not get you accepted.

Did you transfer to TAMU? Also, I’m done with physics, done with chem and this semester I will complete the last of my math requirements along with programing. So, I’m pretty sure I am on track with the required course work, but, I will contact admissions nonetheless. Aside from this, I’m assuming my GPA will go up to a 3.4 because from the looks of it I will finish off this current semester with a 4.0. I just want to know if I have a descent shot at getting in because I need to get into a school that offers industrial engineering since mine does not. Thanks again for the help
