Transferring to UC Berkeley after one year?

So, basically, last year I didn't put a lot of effort into applying because I really wasn't at a point where I cared much about the four year experience. Now, though, I've just started community college and I've watched all of my friends who are on the same level academically as I was go to really good schools and I've realized my tragic mistake.

In high school I took quite a few APs and I passed all of them, so I went into community college with 34 units. I'm taking 12 this semester and plan to take 15 next semester, putting me at 61. By that time I'll have fulfilled the IGETC requirements and I should have the prerequisites to transfer to a UC as a political science major. I guess my question is...is this a thing that happens?

Applications are due November 30th and my semester doesn't end for two weeks after that, so my application will have no grades to show? I seem to have everything I need in progress or done I just don't know how this kind of thing looks on an application.

Thank you! Sorry about the poor thread placement.

I understood that the UCs only accept third-year transfers.

@woogzmama‌ I think if the OP will be up to 61 credits s/he will be the equivalent of a third year student.

Thanks, Erin’s Dad; I missed the credit count. Sorry. I should follow my own advice, and read posts more carefully.
