Transferring to UC Berkeley economics major

So, I applied for economics major at several UCs, and I wish to transfer to UC Berkeley or UCLA the most.

My GPA was 3.97 at the time I submitted my application,
but after the fall quarter, my GPA went down to 3.82… ;(
I think I could make it to 3.85 after this quarter, but the admission will not consider the winter quarter’s grades, as I understand.

I can say I did a lot of activities on/off campus. I worked as an ESL, foreign language tutor on campus, and I was an officer of two clubs. Off campus, I attended volunteer activities and received presidential volunteer award, etc.
I also worked hard for my personal statements. Though I don’t know other applicants’ statements, I can say I showed myself sincerely and thoroughly.

The only thing I am worrying about is my GPA. Even with this GPA, will I be considered as a competitive applicant?
Really getting stressed out. :open_mouth:

You have no chance.

@AgentXJP Care to explain? That might be more useful to OP.

@bodangles It was sarcasm. Being “really stressed” about a 3.82-3.85 seems like more of a humble brag than anything else.

I’m sure he/she has a good chance though.

For 2015, UCB economics had a 19% admission rate with a 25th-75th percentile GPA of 3.81-4.00.

@ucbalumnus Does it mean 3.82 is not a big deal…? Though the admission rate is 19% lol.
At least he/she will not get rejected because of GPA?
I’m in a similar situation so

None of us can tell you. OP is definitely competitive and has good ECs but was there a major pre-req that got a C? Were there two? Are required courses missing? Is IGETC not completed? So many factors. You appear competitive, that’s about all we can say.
