Transferring to UChicago

I was just wondering if there is a good chance for a transfer student to get accepted to Chicago. Like what are some general stats for transfer students.

I go to a good public university. I had a 30 on my ACT, 3.85 HS GPA, right now have a 3.59 college GPA (expecting it to be higher for next year), member of National Society of Collegiate Scholars, studying abroad this fall, and a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honors Fraternity.

Do you think there is a good chance for me to get accepted as a transfer student or should I not waste my time trying?

Thanks!

Well, for starters, you seem reasonably happy with your current university, judging from the information here. Why do want to transfer?

I think that last year, something like 680 applied for the transfer, while 80 were accepted. That’s somewhere around a 12% acceptance rate. I’d have to dig a little more for stats of transfer students.

Another big question is WHY Chicago. Do you think it will just be a better name on your resume, or are there more reasons?

In terms of sticking to the stats, the transfer student admissions rate is 17%, to give you an accurate idea of the figure- it is correct that it’s lower than the normal undergraduate admissions rate.

I actually am not happy at all with the college I am at right now. I want to transfer somewhere that will be a little bit more academically focused and also somewhere where I will have more opportunities than I have here. Name recognition has nothing to do with it. I just want to go somewhere that I will be happy.

then chimps i thinks u have a chance! go for it. I knnow someone who went from Ohio State to NYU- so you can do it!
