I having trouble deciding what courses I need before I transfer over to UCI.
I’ve talked to my counselor, and he suggested I take the following courses: CS 10, CS 40A, CS 40B, and Math 26.
He also told me to take the 2 following classes from Saddleback: CS 4A and CS 1D.
In terms of GE’s, I need to take about 5 or 6 more courses. I have completed all the Math prerequisites, though.
I haven’t been able to make an appointment with my counselor recently, so I haven’t had the chance to ask him for help. I’m not really sure if I’m understanding the ASSIST page correctly.
From what I understand, I only need to complete one year of college level math and one year of transferable computer programming courses in Python, Java, C++, or other object-oriented or high level programming language. Should I take all the courses listed on the right before transferring to UCI? CS 10 is equivalent to I&C SCI 31 only, so would I need to take I&C SCI 32 and 33 as well as all the other UCI courses with no IVC course equivalents when I transfer to UCI. If so, that’s a lot of lower division courses that I would need to catch up on at UCI.
Also, for CS 40A, I need to complete CS 36 as a prerequisite. Since CS 36 is a C based class, the credits do not transfer over to UCI. Should I just take I&C SCI 51 at UCI instead? It’s equivalent to both CS 40A and CS 40B.
This one is more of a convenience issue, but is there a way for me to not take the 2 courses at Saddleback? It’s a bit far, and I’m currently biking to IVC. Hopefully, there will be online courses for them, but I’m not keeping my hopes high.
