I have taken classes at Barstow CC from 2000 till 2003 where I graduated with 2 degrees one in Humanities and one in Allied Health (I had a lot of transfers from an overseas medical school). At the time I was in the Army which I left in 2006. Now I am thinking about attending UCLA for a Mathematics/Economics degree.

My question is: UCLA requires 60 TRANSFERABLE units to be completed by the spring before attending. I have completed 58 units at the school, however when I went to ASSIST.org, only 21 units were transferable. I could not find a lot of classes I've taken. What would happen to the other courses I've taken. Are they lost??? Are they useless.

yes, unfortunately if they are not UC transferrable UCLA won’t look at it. You could try taking some IGETC and major prep classes…they are mostly if not all UC transferrable.

have you thought about applying to a csu? im sure most of your units would transfer there.

not to hijack your thread or anything howard but i’m just wondering if i’m a high school senior that takes classes at city college over the summer before i enter ucla (like calc 2, chem, physics) should i also look for classes that say uc transferable under them?

Thanks jvn098. I am trying to apply for a top 10 Economics Ph.D.programs later on or for the Harvard MBA program, that’s the reason I am trying to get into UCLA or some top school. I don’t know how a CSU degree fair via-a-vis this plan?
