By the end of this spring, I will have completed IGETC and almost all of the preqs for TAG with 61 units. Right now I have a 4.0 GPA. My problem is that I had one bad test in Calc 3 (was really stressed about the application, blanked out), and now my GPA will probably drop down to like a 3.8 or 3.7.

Aerospace Engineering is an impacted major, what are my chances?

It’s too bad aerospace is not a popular major hence most people, including me cannot chance you :)

However, I think you can get in. One bad test won’t kill you, but I think it would be best to kill the final, in case you haven’t taken it yet xD

Hello. I transfered to UCLA as aerospace engineering last fall. I had 3.86gpa and finished most of the pre-reqs by the time of application. I got accepted to UCI(through TAG), UCSD, and some others, but chose UCLA. you will be ok as long as you maintain above 3.6-3.7gpa. completion of pre-reqs are important and I’m assuming you are good with that.
btw, how did you do in the cal3 class? hope you did well because vector calculus is used heavily in my major classes, especially in dynamics and fluid mechanics.
hope you hear good news soon!

Well I applied to UCSD UCI(TAG), and UCLA as an aerospace engineer major.
My GPA when I applied I’m the fall was a 3.62
My GPA agree I submitted my transfer academic update in January dropped to a 3.39.
Last semester, I became very ill around finals and managed to do well in all of my courses except differential equations. I got a D in that class. However I’m retaking the class this semester while finishing up all my prerequisites as well. I also finished my IGETC in fall. I explained to them why my fall semester was lower than my expectations.

Do you think my chances are low? My first choice is UCSD. I haven’t heard back from anyone yet.

I ended up getting a C in the class, which dropped my GPA down quite a bit, its at 3.76 right now. There weren’t many tests for that class, so once i failed on that one test, even doing pretty well on the final made it impossible to get an A. I don’t know exactly how well i did because he never handed anything back. I have a solid understanding of Calc 3, but like I said, blanked out on that one test (after getting As in the other ones).

Feeling really anxious right now, I’ve always dreamed of being an Aerospace Engineer. There is nothing else I would rather do. Why won’t UCSD just give me my decision already?! I’m worried I’m gonna get back a “congratulations, you have been accepted to -wait for it- STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING”…
