Hello. I am a sophomore at SDSU majoring in Accounting and I am looking to transfer to UCSD. I can honestly say that I have never met so many spoiled, rich-kid, wannabes as the vast majority of SDSU's students. I can't imagine myself spending four years in this sham of an academic institution and I'm looking to transfer out.
Anyway, my question is how does one go about transferring to UCSD (or another UC for that matter) from a CSU and what are my chances of being admitted? My freshman year I got 3.8 both semesters and I am currently in the Honors Society. It looks like with some work I can maintain that GPA. Im not in any clubs right now but I am looking to join a few.
Please help me get out of this place.

How can you be a sophomore but in your other post you said you were a freshman at SDSU?

^ Obviously his intention isn’t to maliciously lie; Maybe he’s just posting AS a hypothetical sophomore to prepare for the future. But anyway, as to his question: You can definitely apply to UCSD as a transfer this fall for Fall '12 but realize it will be more difficult because community college applicants are given first priority when it comes to transfer admissions.

What you can do as an efficient alternative is attend community college and earn 30 semester units there, complete TAG (“UC Transfer Admission Guarantee”) and then apply in Fall '13, while accumulating units so that once you do eventually end up at UCSD you will only have to spend a year there. Several students do this as it’s not only a great way to save money but you still will get the UCSD diploma even though you only took [the required minimum] 15 courses at UCSD (5 per quarter, for 3 quarters Fall, Winter, and Spring). Make sense? Good luck.

P.S. I sympathize with the described lack of academic vitality/pleasantness found at SDSU; your description sounds pretty accurate from what I myself observed visiting for a few short hours.
