Transferring to UCSD from USC

Hi all! I'm a freshman at USC, and I am starting to regret my decision of attending USC over UCSD. I am considering applying for admission in November, but am confused about some issues regarding transferring.

I've looked over the articulation agreement between USC and UCSD, and it appears as if students wanting to transfer from UCSD to USC can get past USC's writing requirement (Writing 140/130) with UCSD's Warren Writing, MMW, CAT, etc. Will this work the other way around, as in will UCSD's colleges see my completion of Writing 140 as equivalent to completion of the UCSD writing requirement?

Also, how difficult is it to get into an impacted major at UCSD? Are certain GPAs considered "unofficial benchmarks"?

I would appreciate any comments and stories, especially those dealing with transferring to a UC from a non-CC.

well you should look at the college catalogs online to see if the courses are similar and if they are similar enough in breadth and scope then they should transfer, and try to take courses that fulfill your major and get ge out of the way. you might need to contact ucsd admissions and ask what you need to fulfill ge since you are applying from a different school from what other students usually apply from

donnerstag…if you dont mind me asking, why are you regretting USC over UCSD? I have visited both campuses many many times… but USC happens to be my dream school. (im literally being tortured right now waiting for admissions decisions to be released) I would like to know what you dont like about USC…so that Im not being so blinded by all the “greatness” that I hear about USC from my parents…! :]

funny, i met a lot of people at ucsd who left for cc or are transferring TO usc.

good luck…?

usc will probably help you out in the long run. Job recruiting is terrible at ucsd.

Hey I went to SC my first year too haha. I left because I thought it was too expensive/not worth the money so now I’m at a CC waiting to hear back from a couple more UCs.

For course articulation, you probably have to contact UCSD and ask them about it. Keep all the syllabi for the courses you want to transfer over, they most likely are going to ask for them.

If you are dead set on transferring to UCSD, why not go to a CC your sophomore year? You’ll be saving 50K, plus you’ll get priority for admissions. Whatever your route, good luck to you!

i heard job recruiting at ucsd was top… and anyway… usc is surrounded by muggers
great decision.

you could drop off and opt for CC.
Thats what i did.
Ended up saving $50k

Yeah, i’m actually thinking of transferring from UCSD to USC, strictly because I think their business program is better structured than mgmt science @ UCSD. Got any advice?
