Transferring to UF CLAS chances?

So I’m at a CC right now and I’m trying to transfer into UF. Specifically the CLAS Biology major.

I’m scared to death because I screwed around and got my first C ever in PreCalc and Trig. My teacher was awful, and I currently have a scholarship that only applies if I’m a full-time student, hence why I didn’t drop.

Next semester (the final one before transferring) I’m taking Calc 1 (I took AP Calc in high school and got a B in the class but didn’t get the AP credit), which I’m aiming to get an A in. I’m hoping that might make up for the C in PreCalc and Trig.

I’m also taking Bio 2 (As in both Intro and Bio 1 lecture and labs, not stressed about it), Chem 2 (Bs in lecture for Intro and Chem 1 and As in the labs, firmly believe I can make an A in Chem 2 lecture), and an easy-A Astronomy class to round out my AA.

TL;DR

Current GPA: 3.59
ECs: Full-Time Fast Food Worker (don’t even know if I should include this because it’s just kind of sad to most people), member of Psi Beta Honor Society, member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and hopefully shadowing a pharmacist for my last semester before transferring.

If it’s a better choice for me, I’d apply in the Spring instead of the Fall for better odds and continue shadowing/get a job as a Pharm Tech in the meantime which will hopefully bolster my application.

My second choice is USF.

Guess I should also mention that I was accepted into UF as a senior in HS through their PACE Program (which is basically just getting your AA through UF Online and then a garunteed place on campus after), but decided not to go through with it because my CC was offering an almost full-ride scholarship to get my AA there instead.

I recommend anyone thinking of transferring into CLAS use the following link, it covers all CLAS majors.

Note that UF has two Biology programs, a BA and a BS.

I think your chances are good if you can do well on your Calc class.

Good Luck!!

Thank you for your feedback, I am looking towards the BA instead of the BS.
