Transferring to UMD

Anybody know anything about transferring to UMD?

I've heard it's WAY easier than applying freshman year.

Is it? That's what I'm attempting to do as well. I go to Anne Arundel Community College (good school as far as CC's go) and plan on ending the spring semester with a 3.5 or 3.6 gpa after one year. Is that acceptable for a transfer student?

Yeah I'm pretty sure if you get above a 2.0 at any Maryland CC, College Park will take you. At least that's what I've read.

No, you need a 3.2 to transfer. At least, to be guaranteed admission.

Oh okay the 2.0 must be with the Rouse program. I'm not planning on having to transfer so I'm not looking too much into it.

What about transferring from UMBC? I got in there - but College Park is my goal! What's the deal if I manage a decent GPA at UMBC - is it any easier to transfer into UMCP?

Yeah tranferring is almost always easier then getting in freshman year. That's my plan too (UMBC then tranfer), if I don't get in CP.

A friend of mine from Towson transferred after her freshman year with a cumulative(2 semesters worth) GPA of 3.33. If that helps at all...

IfYouSaySo, did she send in her highschool transcript? Thanks

Im applying as a transfer, but im out of state. Does anyone know how hard it is for out of state applicants? Im from VA, and I had round a 3.3 and 1280 SAT in HS, with 5 AP classes, and after my 1st semester of college I got a 3.4... UMD is my 1st choice, do you think that is good enough to get in?

Well JayHova, I'm in state and got a 1250 on the SAT's back in HS and my HS GPA was like a 1.5 by the time I finished senior year, so needless to say I'm not sending my highschool grades in, but maybe my SAT scores. By the end of this spring I'll have about a 3.4 or 3.5. We both have a pretty equal shot of getting in, since you're out of state but have good HS grades, and I'm in state but they will see no highschool grades at all, which I'm sure sends up red flags in the admissions office.

I dont think my HS grades will help too much, I applied to UMD last year in HS and was rejected. I dont think they'll hurt, but im guessing itll just come down to college grades for me

I saw like 5 more posts in this thread 2 days ago, now they're not here. How does such a thing happen? Disappearing posts? ***

No....I saw the same amount of posts. You are just confused probablyl.

No because IfYouSaySo replied to my question from post #10. Now her reply isnt here. I'm not crazy
