Transferring to upper division. Harder? Overload?

I went to a community college on the quarter system and am transferring to a state school on the semester system for the spring (San Jose State University to be exact). How much harder you suppose classes would be compared to CC? I'm a linguistics major. I'm going to be working 8-16 hours a week and taking 18 units which comprise of these classes:

Intro to syntax
English as a world language
Culture, language, and ethnicity in the US
Upper division writing class
Patterns of English
Philosophy of science

In previous linguistics, philosophy, and English classes, I've found them pretty easy (getting As in all). I have overloaded myself before with 20 quarter units, 16 quarter units and working 32 hours a week, two quarters of language in six weeks (as opposed to 22 weeks normally).

Would 18 units + 8-16 hours working be too much? Are classes harder at university level instead of community college? In your opinion which would be harder quarter system or semester system?

you should study 2 hours for every hour you are in class.
