I'm currently an undergraduate student at California State University, Long Beach going into my second semester. I have decided to transfer to USC School of Cinematic Arts (I'm a film major), hopefully by my fourth semester.

Don't get me wrong, I love CSULB; but somehow, I feel that I'm not satisfied with my education here. It's a wonderful school with great academics, but the fact that this was my back-up school stays in mind. The Beach simply is not my type of school environment. I want to be able to graduate in less than 7 years.

How difficult is it to transfer into USC? As in, what are my chances with a decent GPA (3.4-3.5)? Any tips?

I do have another option. While applying for colleges in high school, I had always acknowledged the existence of the nationwide Arts Institutes, but had never considered going. Somehow I had always aspired to be a 'university' student (not to say AI is a bad institution). However, after exploring a certain campus (Orange County) while assisting my friend in enrolling there, I found myself growing fond of it. The campus is very small, quiet, and peaceful. I want to work ideally in film, but also video gaming. I feel the atmosphere and environment of the Arts Institute suits me as a working student. My only issue is, will I be able to find the career I want in the industry with a degree from AI?

Other things to consider about me:
-film major
-loves films and video games
-aims to be production or character designer, hopefully art director, and ideally director
-loves art, drawing, designing

I can't decide. I'm thinking that if I don't make it to USC, to transfer to AI. Should I do that, or should I stay at CSULB if USC doesn't work out?
