Hi everyone, I am a sophomore down at Chapman University in Orange, CA and am thinking about transferring into either USC or UCLA for my Junior year of college. I understand these are both competitive schools to get into but I have a good GPA and am working on extracurricular activities to put down on applications. I am also a tv student at Chapmans famous film school and am looking to move to either USC or UCLA's film school.

Can anyone tell me what I would need to transfer to one of these schools?

Also what would I need for the application process..do I do one application for the school and another for the film school or just one?

If you want to transfer into USC’s film program, the best tip I can give you is to make sure you have an insanely awesome portfolio. The programs are extremely small (I think Critical Studies is the largest and only has around 75 people a year, Screenwriting the smallest with around 25 students). A lot depends on if people leave the program since they cap it and try to get the target number during Freshmen acceptances.

USC is obviously the better choice for ur major. george lucas went there! anyway, USC’s film program is world renown and u have to be the best of the best to get in. as for ucla, i didnt even know they had a film school

If you want to go to a film school, I highly suggest to apply to USC. Their film school is one of the BEST out there. It is dificult to get accepted, a lot of people apply for the couple of shots that they have open. But try your best at Chapman right now, get all A’s, and do a lot of EC’s. Anything is possible.

Do EC’s really even matter when transferring in as a junior? I would think GPA, core completion, major pre-req’s completed, and strength of portfolio and supplementals would be what matters.
