Transferring to USF after freshman year from small LAC? Legacy Factor?

Hi I’m thinking about transferring to USF after my freshman year from my small LAC in the PNW. I’m originally from the bay area and my Mom and my older sister are both alumna from the school. I’m transferring due to my major which is Japanese/CompSci and wanting to be in a more urban environment.

Anyway I just have a few questions:

  1. Both my Mom and my older sister attended, would that way in on the application itself?
  2. My high school grades were good maintained around a 3.4 GPA, took AP/Honors classes, president of a club senior year, vp of the same club junior year, member of 3 other clubs, hosted exchange students for two years, participated in exchange program with our sister school, volunteered, summer college program, art classes, and 4 years of a foreign language with bi-lingual proficiency in it.
  3. However, my standardized test scores were not the best due to when I was applying to schools during my senior year I applied to many test optional institutions, so there’s a weakness right there.
  4. My college GPA is quite good (not sure the exact numbers since my final exams haven’t been entered in yet) but I know it’s above a 3.0, USF stated on it’s website that at least a 3.0 for competitive admission would be ideal. I will have 33 credits transferring into USF which is sufficent on USF’s website. Did anyone who transferred mind telling me their GPA stats?

Thanks!

USF doesn’t look at high school grades if you have more than 24 semester credits at the time of applying. It looks like it’s more about your collegiate work than anything else.
