Transferring to UT Engineering?? Help me decide!

What are my chances to get into Cockrell school of Engineering?
Assuming that i can get a GPA of 4.0
I have two options:

  1. Go to a community college and study core requirements (HIST, ENGL, GOV… everything EXCEPT science and Math) and then transfer into Austin as a natural science major. After that, I want to transfer INTERNALLY to engineering school with a residential qualified GPA (I don’t how whether i can get that high GPA when I study at UT)
  2. Go to a community college and study core requirements (everything INCLUDING science and math). UT will carefully review Calculus (CAl I),General Chemistry, and Physics (Mechanics) for EXTERNAL transfer, but AP scores take care of the credits for me. Also, I want to study all the needed sciences at the community college with high grades such as Biology, Organic Chem, and maybe some associate Engineering courses. Once again, I think that I can get GPA of 4.0 at the community college.

Which choice brings me a better chance of getting in?

Getting into UT via community college is difficult regardless of your grades. What are your high school stats.

Rank 20/658
GPA 4.5
SAT 1600 ( not very high)

Are you OOS?

Nope!
in-state

Are you a rising senior? Why aren’t you an auto-admit?

I didn’t get accepted to the Engineering college, and for some other reasons, i can’t go to UT right away as a freshman

“Some other reasons”

What are the reasons? Will these reasons go away in one year? Can you defer your admission into UT?
Were you accepted into one of the schools at UT? I don’t think your plan to transfer to UT from a CC is that great of an idea.

It’s about money, and I can still get transfer automatic admission! I got accepted to liberal arts.

If I were you I would complete less than 30hrs in CC and enroll in UT under your high school auto admit status. Getting into the engineering program as a transfer student from CC is going to be very difficult regardless of your CC grades. With your SAT score I think your going to have to prove your chops with UT classes. I would not pin my hopes on getting into the engineering program based on what I did at a CC. Going in as a auto admit and proving your moxy is the better way to go IMHO.
