I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice on this. Besides keeping my gpa really high (as close to a 4.0 as possible) what else should I be doing if I want to transfer and be accepted for the Fall of 2012 at UVA?

Make sure that you get as many of the general area requirements fulfilled as you possibly can!

Was just wondering. How difficult is it to transfer after 1 year at Vtech/JMU to UVA?

I’m a little confused by the JMU/VT part…did you attend both schools? Like one semester at each school?

Generally, it is nearly equally competitive for transfer admissions, but assuming you are in-state, your grades from HS and college were strong, then you have a shot.

I would assume that Academicterror is currently a senior in high school and hasn’t yet decided whether he/she will be attending JMU or Tech.

skipblue is right.

And my high school stats are

3.75 weighted gpa and 1740 on the sat. I don’t really know how important sat will be in this transferring process tho.

Ah, that makes sense then.

HS grades will still matter, and yours seem decent, but not extraordinary. Keep in mind though that when you apply, you’ll only be able to supply 1 semester of college grades, so they better be good. You’ll also want to make sure your essays are strong.
