Transferring to UVA for Spring 2015

Hello,

I am a current undergraduate student at George Mason University and I want to transfer to UVA College of Arts & Science in the spring 2015 semester. I am an A & B type student however my current GPA right now is at a 3.12 because I had gotten a C in a 6 credit in a ridiculous freshman class which really brought my GPA down. I hope admissions will take that into considerations.

I was involved with the Cornerstone program my freshman year, my school's a capella group and a Brother of Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity. I have taken a variety of classes such as Econ, Statistics, and Business English however I am a Kinesiology major. When I move to UVA, I want to change that to a BA in Computer Science.

I will be a Junior credit-wise but some of my credits may not transfer over to UVA so I may end up as a Sophomore.

Any tips and advice for getting accepted would be great. This is my last chance in trying to do this and I guess I am taking a big risk. I will be taking a semester off for the Fall to get an internship and build my programming skills and portfolio which my enhance my application as well.

Thanks guys.

Hello! I’m also a George Mason student looking to transfer to UVA  So I would like to give some advice! It looks like you’ve got a couple good ECs, but the GPA is always worrisome, no matter what you’ve got. I would call and talk to transfer admissions and talk to them about your situation. But, obviously, you have to buckle down and work hard, and show them you have what it takes to improve! Visible improvement is always a plus. I would suggest trying to land a leadership position in one of your ECs – that’s what I’m gonna have to do this year. Good luck, from one GMU student to another!!
