Hi there. So, pretty much I'm going to lay out my solution to a rather unfortunate issue and see if I can get some opinions on it.

I am currently in my third semester of community college, and I am planning on transferring to UVA next fall via the guaranteed admission agreement. I recently decided that computer science was what I wanted to go into, but I found out that in order to do that, I should have gotten an associate's in science with a specialization in engineering rather than the plain associate's in science. In order to take what is missing for the specialization, the courses must be taken in a four semester span because each set of classes requires the previous ones. Plus, these classes aren't offered in the summer and the program must be started in the fall (yes, the add/drop deadline has passed for this semester). In other words, it would take me another two years to get this degree.

Instead of sticking around at my community college for another four semesters, I would like to transfer to UVA next fall as planned, begin working on the pre-engineering program, and in the meantime, get a bachelor's in something like economics or physics. I was planning on minoring/majoring in something else anyways, and this way, I won't feel like I'm wasting my time. I'll have a degree after two years, then I can start the computer science program (if not sooner).

What do you guys think? Also, opinions on economics vs physics? I can say that I do seem to like economics, but I've never had a physics class. As to what I want to do, I'm not sure. The only certainty is the computer science degree.

Thanks in advance!
