Hi! I'm a freshman at uga and I want to transfer to uva (my first choice) or usc, vanderbilt, tech, or northwestern. I got a 1380 on my sats and I took all honor and ap classes. I had a 3.6 my first freshman semester (made dean's list) and I took physics/lab, chemistry/lab, poly sci, and english II (15 hours total) I'm a legacy at uva. I was just wondering if yall know my chances at getting in the engineering program at any of those schools, esp. uva b/c I REALLY want to go there! Thanks so much!

keep those grades up and you'll have a shot at gettin here.....the E-school isn't all that difficult to get in to...I say you'd probably have a harder time getting in to VT's e-school.....your SATs are decent, you have that legacy status...are you in-state?.....just go by the transfer requirments (they do accept transfers that haven't filled the requirements, but you can kill off some graduation requirements with a few classes at UGa...i managed to burn a little over half of mine just with 30 hours of transfer credit)....also look in to the E-School transfer requirements....I came in to the College so I'm certain they're different.

It doesn't matter if you're in-state because as a legacy your application is treated as in-state. You didn't say what your hs gpa was but if it is reasonable I don't see any reason why you wouldn't get in as a transfer to UVa.

eh i might apply to uva for next fall admission.. do we have to send our high school transcript through mail? if so, do we ask our old high school to do it? is there anything else other than the college transcript that we send in mail?

also, how long is everyone planning to write for their number 1 essay about why transferring? and the second one about why arts/science

crichessil - call your high school up and ask them to send transcripts. In addition to your h.s. transcripts, you need to contact collegeboard to have your SAT I scores sent in.

when should i ask them to send all of this? now or like in february? does collegeboard still have our records if we graduated last year

just do it whenever you can....it's December...you won't know til May...but chance's are that if you get that done before you get off of break, you'll get your decision in the first wave....which is in April.....you can also contact the admissions office and see if the dean will accept a tentative midterm grade report...just to show your Spring semester's work up to that point...that'll help....other than that, try gettin a recommendation from an alum

yea one more question... is it okay if you kind of reuse your essay from last year again for this year's? one of the question is very similar to essay prompt from last year's

also, how long is everyone's essay

While we're on the subject of transferring to UVA....what's the likelihood of being admitted to the undergrad business school (McIntire) if you come in as a sophmore transfer. I am now a freshman in college and am applying to UVA as a transfer student for fall 2006. I know you have to apply to McIntire at the end of sophmore year, so would admission be more difficult for a transfer student. I know it's possible, but does anyone have any comments, or even personal experience with this? thanks

The Mcintire program does not start until your Junior year. So if you successfully transfer after your freshman year, you would have to internally transfer after your sophmore year, which i heard is fairly easy to do.
