Hey, I really like UW. However, I would be an out-of-state student requiring a LOT of financial aid. I would be getting at least 10,000 from gov. aid.
So, for transfers: How much aid did you receive?

My stats are:
3.79 HS GPA, 7 Honors, No APs available as I was homeschooled. 4.0 College GPA. 2150 Comp SAT score.

Depending on your activities and essay, I think you have a good shot.

I have a family of four with an annual income of $45,000. I only got $9,000 in federal aid, and it’s all loans. I didn’t even get Federal Work Study this year, even though I got it last year with a higher income ($60,000.) The school and state did not give me anything, and I’m an in-state student with a 3.9 college GPA.

Basically, I got screwed over when it comes to financial aid. But, you might have a better shot. Don’t count on getting scholarships from the school; the reason they admit out-of-state students a lot of time is because out-of-state students pay the higher tuition. You might get some federal aid if you qualify for it, but just make sure that you don’t expect anything from the state or the school.

Kaylee, did you fill out the FAFSA? I can’t believe you didn’t get any grants with only 45K income for a family of four. Bummer!

Tessey, did you receive much financial aid? And, were you a transfer?
Kayley, did you transfer, and did you pay OOS?

I see that they would probably just want OOS for finances, I guess UW probably isn’t such a good match in those terms. It is just, I love Washington, and everytime I do a search for schools that match my interests UW shows up. =/

Don’t be totally discouraged-
I am a transfer, and I received a very generous financial aid package- I have a family of 3, and I was able to get a lot of grants (federal money you don’t have to pay back). The financial aid I received made the cost of UW similar to the cost of attending a community college, so don’t lose hope for getting some solid financial aid assistance- It is possible to get financial aid money!

Lawgirl, if you don’t mind me asking, what sort of stats did you have?

My stats are:
HS Gpa: 3.8 with Honors, AP and Running Start
ACT:29 SAT: 2070
College GPA: 3.95 (both OOS and CC), about 75 credits

Also, I have a single mother and a sister who also attends UW, if that helps give some background!
