Transferring to Virginia Tech from Mason

Hey guys,

I was wondering what GPA you guys think the average Vtech transfer student has. It would be great to hear from current Vtech transfers.

I'm currently a sophomore at George Mason University and my major is biology. I have a 3.3 GPA... I know that it's a bit low but I'm working to improve it this semester. I also had a 3.65 GPA in high school.

So do you think transferring from GMU with a 3.4-3.5 to Vtech is possible? And if so, how likely is it?

From their website:

“Although the admissions committee considers applicants with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), most competitive applicants will present a GPA of 3.0 or better. In majors where applications exceed available space, such as architecture, business, communication, industrial design, and engineering, the competitive GPA may be even higher.”

There’s more information about qualifications and requirements of transfer students on their website, or you could call them and ask.

Yeah, I’ve seen there site stats but “over a 3.0” is vague and quite obvious. I will probably call the admissions office this week and see though. Thanks.

Anyone else is welcome to share their insight on transferring!
