Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone has been in a situation similar to mine, or if anyone has any advice on transferring to University of Michigan or transfer credits. I will explain my situation.
I am a freshman at Oakland University. I rushed into choosing a college, despite my above-average ACT score (29) and my decent GPA (3.7). I am not happy here, and I want to ultimately end up attending U of M my junior and senior years of college. The issue is, I know I won’t be able to pay for next year, as well. I have talked to a friend who transferred to U of M, and my grades so far in college are acceptable according to U of M’s transfer guide. My issue is that I do not want to attend OU any longer, so I can begin to save more money. This semester, I am transferring to Washtenaw Community College, and working on obtaining my associate’s there, and then transferring to U of M. I’m worried that my credits from WCC will not transfer well, and I was wondering if anyone had any similar situation and if you would be willing to give me advice or peace of mind?
Thank you so much! I hope I made my situation easy to understand.

Michigan is relatively stingy with transfer subject credit, whether from CCs or four year schools. Many of the transferable courses listed in the guide do not have a Michigan course number equivalent, so you may not get subject credit for them. For example, history courses as Washtenaw or Oakland may only give you generic history credit at Michigan (or may have to be individually evaluated by the department after transfer), rather than being considered equivalent to specific history courses.
