Transferring to Yale

Hi Yalies-
Im just wondering just how hard it is to get into Yale as a transfer student? I don't wanna waste my time applying- i know the acceptance rate is pretty low but what kind of individual do you need to be to get considered?
Thanks!

Hard, but nobody can give you an honest evaluation without stats.

Hey.

I'm not a Yalie, and judging from your post date my reply may be too late. I'm aiming to transfer to Yale too, though.

For transfer they accept around 25-30 out of an applicant pool of around 900,and stats round it out to a roughly 2-3% acceptance rate. This information is all on the Yale website, btw, which I presume you must have checked. You know the acceptance rate is pretty low - so of course it's hard to get in, we're talking about Yale here, home of Aliens!

But honestly, if you think applying could be a waste of your time, then don't. I understand the workload in college is tough already, and you can't afford to fling precious time away - we're in the same boat there. But I seriously doubt that the sort of individual Yale is looking for is someone with this unexcited "oh just give it a try" vibe I'm getting from ya. Personally I think passion wouldn't be amiss. You have to "really want it" and all that bloody stuff.

Hey,

What about transferring to Yale from Harvard. Approx. 3.3 gpa, after taking two Honors level classes and two core classes

write very YALE-specific essays and they will probably grab you... considering you're coming from Harvard

edit: why do you want to leave Harvard?

peabody001, did you finally apply to Yale as a transfer?

hey y'all,

i did end up applying to yale as transfer. but i feel like my grades will be too low for consideration.

why did i find the need to apply to transfer? for some reason i just don't think harvard is for me. everything here is very career-oriented, very career-driven. kids only do things that benefit their resumes, whether they choose to tell you or not. i don't like that in at least half my classes i never have contact with the professor or that the professor is a terrible teacher and is useless being there. most of my professors are not interactive and i just feel like i need a more inclusive, more formative environment.
plus, the social scene at harvard i find to be a little too exclusive; people think they're too much of hot **** to want to incorporate others into the scene...
