She has to be a ■■■■■.

unfortunately, I do not think she is. This may sound terribly condescending and mean, but I think crazygirl9999 is a prime example of one of those kids who were told “college is the key to the American Dream and if you work hard enough you can do good.” This is wrong. College is not for everyone.

The OP seems to be terribly misguided with her college selection process and has these fantasies–these delusions of grandeur–that it is some big conspiracy that she can’t get into these colleges that she is obviously more than qualified for and anyone who tells her anything different is immediately dismissed as rude, mean, or whatever else she may think.

To the OP: If you are reading this, you should seriously consider going to a trade school. This is honest advise; not me being mean.

I think you should stay at Bowie State for another year and plan to transfer in your Junior year.

If you do wish to come to California, in addition to Cal and UCLA, consider some CSUs as well.
If you are really good and qualify, I think you may may want to drop HYPs and add Northwestern in the list, it has an outstanding Journalism school.
You should understand, as transfer student, you may have to spend more than four years as the receiveing school may not accept all your credits.

Though blunt, the people who have been posting here are trying to make things realistic for you. We aren’t telling you that you can or cannot make it into your schools, but we are trying to say that it is a difficult process and the schools you are aiming for are very selective, where not even the most brilliant of students can make it in and even fewer are successful there (something that almost no one here considers). Behind the apparent “mean” comments, we are only telling you that you shouldn’t keep your hopes high. No transfer applicant should - you should try your best throw in an app and see what happens.

To me it really seems like you care a tad bit too much about prestige. All of the places you have listed are incredibly highly rated universities that are really great schools to go to, but they are not by far the only schools that will give you opportunities in life. If you think all it takes is a school “name” to make it in life, you are sorely mistaken. I know plenty of ivy league “failures” who were quite smart, but failed to grasp the concept that success is not just a high GPA and a good school.

You have an excellent opportunity at your own university to learn and grow, not just academically, but also in so many other ways. You can meet tons of interesting people, teachers who may inspire you, and most importantly grow as a person.

Transferring, especially to this many schools, takes a lot of time and a lot of money. Please, at least consider that. Apply to a couple in state schools that you really think you could grow in (state flagships would be a great place) - if anything just for the hell of it if you just want to get out of your current university (I see that you are from Maryland so college park and loyola may be good places for you to start). Its an emotional process - don’t get sucked into the hype that media constantly imprints in our brains.

Good luck. If you really feel that you have to apply, then I won’t stop you. Its your choice and that above all things is what matters. If you don’t get in, reflect and think about what might have went wrong…

Last thing - most people here criticize to benefit people, if you really didn’t want that, then I suggest not starting a thread in the first place. If you start a thread, you are inviting us to criticize you and everything about yourself. It would be of little point if we just pat you on the back and tell you that you will totally get into Harvard, which may not even accept any applicants.

Bumping for posterity, this thread made me laugh my ass off.

@CF

I am glad we kept you entertained…

necro much?

I agree with everyone else saying that you should spare yourself the headache and troubles of applying to that many elite schools.

HAHAHA this made me crack up… crazygirl is wayy in over her head.
