I'm a first semester freshman and I have completed applications to transfer to another university for the Spring 2012 term...as the time for admissions notifications draws nearer, I realize that I don't want to attend any of the schools I have applied to. Basically my question is:
How do schools look at transferring twice? Is it alright to transfer from School A to School B in order to end up at School C?

What I will potentially do is transfer to another school in January then apply for Fall 2012 admission to schools again. My high school record is fine, as are my first semester grades. Looking at a 4.0 this semester, and I graduated in the top 10% of my h.s. class.

I figured I should probably elaborate. I’m not necessarily trying to “jump up” to School C. School C only accepts sophomore/fall transfers.

I think schools would want to know why you went to two schools in one year. It does give you the look of being a school hopper, and they might not want to accept a student who they may think will soon transfer out. That is if you don’t have a legitimate reason for the two different schools. My opinion is to wait it out at your first school. If you keep up your grades, then you have lots of options for Fall 2012.

Thanks, I mean it’s financial/not being challenged/thoroughly unhappy here. I am just not getting what I need to get out of school, and I don’t really intend to spend another semester at a school that makes me feel as though I’m going backwards academically. I spoke to one university on the phone, and he made it seem as though as long as I am earning credits next semester, I wouldn’t be looked at any differently, but from what I’ve read, that doesn’t seem to be resounding opinion.

I think you will have the BEST chance of acceptance at college C if you stay where you are another semester, get great LOC’s from Profs there and continue to earn top grades. I would also advise staying in touch with the Transfer admissions officer at College C , just to make sure you are doing everything they want you to do AND to continue to let them know your keen interest in transferring there. You never know how a new school [ college B] might trip up your plans, grades, etc, so I would just stay put for one more semester.
