Hey, so I didn't get into my no1 school of choice, but I might be transferring to another school that could be a good springboard to the better one. Anybody transferred twice? Would that be considered negative when I re-apply?

I actually will have transferred twice if I'm accepted to Boston University. My situation is kind of odd though. I was a freshman at BU, had to transfer out for financial reasons, and am now transferring back in. Not sure if I have an edge or am at a disadvantage. I guess I'll find out soon. But as for transferring twice to 2 completely different schools, I don't see why it would hurt you as long as your performance is strong and consistent.

Considering you transferred out of a school for financial reasons, I'd expect you to see the importance of a merit scholarship. (Actually, you should have looked for one yourself- they are out there).

I think it would hurt you if the college assumes that you're just transferring your way up to the top rather than making a concerted effort to get involved in your school and make the most of it (I think there's a Yale article floating around in the threads that says something to that effect). But if you can show that you ARE involved in your school and STILL have a legitimate reason for wanting to transfer, I say it's worth a shot.

i transferred three times. no big deal.
