Transferring Twice?

I did a quick search and I couldn't find this topic so sorry if this has been asked before.

I've been told that transferring to a university from your current one, and then applying again to another college would give the impression of a lack of commitment, or something along those lines (i.e. college A-->college B-->college C).

My question is is it (this sounds awkward) okay to transfer twice to get to a college that's significantly higher than the one I'm at now? I'm pretty sure I won't be able to gain entrance as a sophomore given my high school GPA but I feel that I won't be able to last another year here. Is it okay to transfer to another university, maintaining a competitive GPA, and then apply to the school I had originally intended to transfer to? And I've heard that junior transfers are even more competitive than those of sophomores....

Any thoughts?

I did it. But not b/c i didnt think i could get in. I was at an LAC and the cost was overwhelming due to them taking away my fin aid, said my dad made too much. Since i was notified of this in May, there were few options for me to apply to, so now i am at Western Michigan University. It's a good school for a lot of stuff, but i don't like the lack of educational commitment. So i applied to U Mich and i'll be there next winter as a second semester soph and that is where i'll finish up.

Any other thoughts?

I have a friend who went from Clarkson to Binghamton to Cornell....he did amazingly well at all 3 and will be applying to grad programs soon....I'll let you know how it goes :-)

So if I get at least a 3.75 GPA right now should I just go for it?

You could always apply to transfer for fall semester at both places, and if you aren't accepted into your first choice, see if they have spring transfers. Admission is usually less competitive for those spots and it will probably show some dedication. But it depends on where you're transferring from/to/to again haha.

I'm sort of in the same boat, but I have a really weird situation. I just transferred from a public school in VA to a bigger school with a "better" reputation in NY, way closer to where I live. So I'm at this new school... but I realized almost as soon as classes started that I had transferred for really bad reasons. Namely, to get a minimal and debatable upgrade, to be a few hours closer to home, and well, because first semester I was a total recluse and had a miserable time. The differences between my old and new school aren't so much academic, as I've discovered, but definitely social, as it is impossible (for me) to find anything to do on the weekends, probably because I'm a transfer and not the most outgoing person.
So I've applied to re-enter my old school in the spring. My GPA hasn't changed, so I think I'm probably still a competitive applicant, or at least I hope so. Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but I think I'm probably setting a precedent by doing so, and was just wondering what people's thoughts were. Am I crazy? Does anyone know of any other people who have done this? Are my chances totally shot, and should I just suck it up and stay here?
