I went to a community college for two years, and now that I am pretty much done with my general education classes I have decided to go to a regular university. However, the university leaves much to be desired, it is expensive, it does not have research opportunities, study abroad opportunities, and it is a small population of students. I want to transfer to a school with these opportunities and and it is a state school that is less expensive and has more students. Is this a good or bad idea? Should I stay at the CC for another semester and take a couple of classes from the university that are required at the state school? Or skip the new university all together?

Take the semester off. Apply at the state university. Start in the second semester.

The only reason to enroll at the expensive place that you don’t like would be if you absolutely can’t be admitted anywhere else.
