Im planning on transferring from UCSD to UCB and my friend at berk told me that I will not be able to transfer my upper division coursework for my major. That i'd have to retake the classes that count for my major.

Please tell he he's wrong.

depends on major, there are SOME majors that may list something like "all upper division units must be taken in residence" ....... i have seen that listed for some minors at UCLA for example.

Your courses will transfer however, you need to contact the major department and see what their rules are.

ok. that's a partial relief. thanks.

Hey cr_book i am thinking about doing that too. I would imagine that the subjects of those classes would also matter i.e. complex analysis is pretty much complex analysis everywhere but American Political Thought from the Revolution to the Civil War might vary drastically. So if you are in the hard sciences you are probably safe for most of your coursework, but if you are in the social sciences or the humanities you are not going to get many of those classes transferred.

transferring from another uc to berkeley? or what

i'm a math major, as i'm guessing you are too.

UCSD---> Berkeley or UCLA
Physics major for sure and either biochem or math for the second
