So here's my situation. I decided to go to a private Liberal Arts college, and once I got there I hated it. Also, I get severe migraines, and I was getting them almost two times a week and I could not attend classes regularly. I ended up having to withdraw from all my classes my first semester ever and take a leave of absence.

I am not returning for the spring semester, I think it is better for me to just work and save some money. I have since then taken care of my migraines (went to a neurologist, got new meds), and they will not be a problem.

So here's what I'm wondering. Could I apply to the schools I'm interested in going to in the Fall as a freshman? I have literally no grades. Also, my college won't release my transcripts because I still owe like $3,000 from the first semester because I lost a loan while I was gone (long, story).

SO sending my transcripts is out of the question, and I need to apply like ASAP if I want to go to school in the fall.

Someone PLEASE help me out on what to do/how it works.

Whenever you apply to a school, as EITHER a fr or transfer applicant, you need to send transcripts from all colleges you have attended. The first thing you need to do is clear up your financial situation with your current college so that they will release your transcripts. Colleges check for past college attendance here:

Once you do that, whether or not your apply as a fr or transfer applicant varies from school to school, you need to check the college websites for their policies.

I’m pretty sure that you will have to pay your first school before you can enroll in another. You can write the admissions office of each college you are interested in and ask if you are able to apply as a freshman or not. It may vary by college. They may need transcripts regardless.

So I see. Xposted with you. Makes perfect sense, ensures student was not dismissed for violations or whatever as well as verifying credits or not.

Check with your target schools’ admissions offices. Ask if you can apply without the transcript. Does it need to be submitted before the fall semester starts? Can it be sent later? Given that you have no credits listed on it to transfer, it might not be required by the fall semester start-date.

Colleges and universities do not want to admit students who already have shown that they don’t pay their bills. This means that unless the OP settles the debt first, it is unlikely that he/she can study anywhere as a regular student. Some places might accept the OP as a non-degree student, but that would mean taking only a couple of classes and paying entirely out of pocket.

If no one has the money to settle the outstanding tuition bill, the OP needs to keep working and pay it off before applying to college again.
