So I am a freshmen, and I really don't like the school I am at, and I am fully ready to transfer. Here is my plan, please let me know what you think.
Finish out this semester, then move home and go to the local community college fulfilling general education credits for the new school I plan on enrolling in that I would be wasting my time and money on here when I am. My school has a huge amount of general education credits I must fulfill, most which other schools don't require. Does this seem like a good plan?
Or is it honestly better to wait out the first year? I know the first year can be tough, but I am absolutely positive I cannot envision myself here for the next three and a half years. Thank you.

If you know for dead certain that you don’t want to stay where you are (and yes, some students do figure that out the first semester of their freshman year), transferring home to your local CC to complete your gen eds and determine where you really want to be studying, can make a lot of sense. Especially if you can save boatloads of money in that process.

But do run the numbers. Don’t give up a ginormous merit-aid package that you aren’t likely to get anywhere else as a transfer applicant until you know for dead-certain that you will be able to pay for the place where you hope to complete your degree.

@happymomof1,
Would it still make since to go to a CC even if I was certain what I wanted to major in?

It might not make sense to transfer to a CC if you are only going to be there for one semester because the paperwork will be a big headache. So you do need to think about that.

However, if you can get your gen eds out of the way, save some money, and have credits that you know will transfer to the other college/university, spending a semester or two at the CC can make a lot of sense.

It also is OK to just plain take the spring semester off from studies, while you apply to transfer for next fall.

@happymomof1,
I totally feel that, but I know it will save me a ton of money. Also, I don’t want to be super far behind when I transfer in Fall 2015, I want to be out of college and working as soon as possible. Definitely something I need to talk about more with my adviser and parents. Thank you so much for your advice.
