I’m currently a second term senior and I’m prepared to have to go to my safety school since so far decisions haven’t been going that well. So, I’m interested in attempting to transfer to a better school after my first year. The problem is, I’ve been slacking a little bit this second semester as a result of senioritis, and I’m nervous that it would ruin my chances of getting accepted as a transfer student.
So do colleges see my high school transcript? And if so, how much do they count it, particularly my 2nd term senior grades? Thanks!
The rule of thumb is, the more college you do the less high school matters. 30 college units and your high school grades matter. 60 and it probably won’t matter.
Yes. If you try to transfer after one year of university, then your high school grades will matter, and schools that you want to transfer to will see your full high school transcript including the 2nd semester of your senior year. Your second semester senior year of high school and first semester of university will be the most recent grades that they have to look at when they are making a decision (assuming both your high school and university are on a semester system).
If you wait and try to transfer after two years of university, then your high school grades will not be as important. However, I think that you will still need to submit them.
