So instead of going straight to college i decided to save money for about 3 semesters due to the fact that my parents are not paying for my education.

Now i am going to a community college taking 18 credits this spring semester.

I really want to transfer to University of baltimore county this fall of 2013. Are my chances of transferring to UMBC and getting accepted with 18 credits and a 4.0 gpa low?

You must be at the sophomore level to be considered as a lower division transfer student, which means you must complete at least 30 units at a CC. I say that in your circumstance it would be a good idea to continue your studies at a CC and transfer as a junior if money is an issue right now.

To the best of my knowledge, none of the MD publics require a certain number of credits earned before transfer. You need to find out if you are a freshman applicant or a transfer applicant. Check the UMBC website, and if you can’t find the information, call the admissions office and ask. If you are currently enrolled in a MD community college, the transfer advisor at your campus should be able to help you with this.

Wishing you all the best!
