Hello all. I am currently a student at Moorpark college. This is going to be my third year. Unfortunately things have not gone as planned and the highest GPA I can accumulate after this semester is a 2.73. I want to transfer as a chemistry major. Which UC's and CSU's would you guys recommend I apply to? In terms of extracurriculars I have been volunteering at UCLA since the start of the summer.

I also forgot to add that I would be IGETC certified and for some of the UC’s and CSU’s that require completion of the physics series, I would be missing physics M20C. In terms of math for some of the UC’s I would be missing linear algebra.

Chemical *engineering/i only needed a 2.0 GPA to transfer into at San Jose State for fall 2011 (chemistry needed a 3.0 GPA):

[SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1209.html)

But you’ll want to complete the needed physics and math before you transfer.

The one problem with SJSU is that they have a very different set of admission standards for in service area and out of service area applicants. If the OP applies from within the SJSU service area he probably does have a good chance of acceptance with 2.73 GPA but if he is out of their service area he would probably need something north of a 3.5 and would have a better chance of getting into one of the less competitive UCs.

CSUB. They will take anyone as long as they have a pulse

i think merced and santa cruz as far as uc’s go. with csu’s ur better off with the ones that arn’t overcrowded cuz they get selective especially with ur major

[SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1209.html) says:

So if a transfer applicant with a 2.73 GPA applied to chemical engineering at SJSU for fall 2011, s/he would have been admitted, as the GPA threshold was 2.00. But if s/he applied to chemistry instead, where the GPA threshold was 3.00, s/he would have been admitted as undeclared if most of his/her units were from local colleges, or rejected if most of his/her units were from non-local colleges.

CSU Bakersfield is not impacted, but a transfer applicant still needs to meet minimum CSU transfer requirement as described here:

You can see which CSU campuses and majors are impacted here:

I’d highly recommend CSULB

you could have a chance at cal poly pomona also. They have chemistry AND chemical engineering. Wouldn’t hurt to apply.

csub will take you. Plus its cheaper than other csu’s although your compromising on location and having a commuter campus

You have a good chance to UCR and cal poly pomona (50-60 % ish). Slight chance for UCSC (10-15%). I am being honest with you because I just had a lot friends with a GPA like that who only got accepted to those schools.
