Transferring with a dirty record

I am a freshman at CU Boulder and since my first semester, I have been hoping to transfer for fall of 2010. Unfortunately, I put myself in a number of compromising situations that have put me on suspension in abeyance. This means that if I make one more mistake (which I won't), I will be suspended from the university. Though this will not show up on my official transcript, I am still applying to various schools. Several schools, however, ask for a letter of good standing. This means that they will find out about my offenses. Should I just give up and not apply? Is my chance of transferring ruined?

ps. I'm a good student and have above a 3.5 GPA.

I guess it depends on what you have done. Where were you thinking of transferring to? Maybe you should stick it out for another year and by then if you don’t do anything you would be considered in “good standing” and they’d write you a more positive letter. Again, I think it depends on the severity of your offenses and the instutitions you plan on transferring to.
