Hey everyone,
This is my first post,
I am looking to transfer to a more acreddited university for premed studies. Currently I am a bioscience student. My freshman year I did not have a declared major, was unmotivated and ended up with a 3.0GPA flat for the first two semesters. I am a sophomore now, this past semester I ended with a 3.91 GPA, and plan on getting a 4.0 next semester. (would have got a 4.0 but a group class killed me!).
Like I stated previously, I am looking to transfer to a more acreddited school, and would like to know how much weight my freshman year holds, and what you think my chances are for getting into some of these schools, listed…

Georgetown
George Washington University
Bucknell
Emory
NYU
Hofstra
Binghamton
StonyBrooke

Some of them I'm pretty sure i don't have a shot… or at least thats what I believe, lets hear what you all think!!!

Thanks!!!

Med school admissions is all about the numbers. Provided you complete the required pre-med courses with a stellar GPA, do well on the MCAT, and collect the excellent letters of recommendation that you need, the name of the college/university on your diploma barely matters at all. If you are serious about being pre-med, make an appointment with the pre-med advisor at your current university, and find out what you would have to do in order to be a successful med school applicant from there. You might find out that for your long-term goals, where you are is plenty good enough.

Thanks so much, yes I did talk to my advisor and he told me this as well^. However for my own pursuit of knowledge I’d like to go to a university with more resources. My current school doesn’t have a “pre-med program” although I understand anyone with the grades, mcat, recommendations ect. can get into medical school. The plan would really be to apply to a undergrad school with a medical school. There is still the option to stay where I am and not transfer, however I would like to have other doors open. Thank you for your input!

Transfer to a uni with medical school will NOT help your medical school application. If you do well now keep it that way. If you transfer, it might take a while to adjust the new environment and your Gpa may suffer. MD school is all about your Gpa and Mcat, you need to have them high to increase the chances
