I'm applying for transfer as an English major (which isn't impacted) at Berkeley and UCLA next fall. Is it possible to add Economics (which is impacted at both universities) as my second major? I should probably apply as an Econ major, but I don't really want to risk not getting in.

Which means you probably cannot double either.

For Berkeley, you want to read the following:

Incoming Transfer Students | Department of Economics;

Something else to consider is that UCLA math economics appears to be less impacted than economics or business economics (or even English).

If you are considering going on to PhD study in economics, it would be a good idea to choose the more math-heavy options, including taking the sophomore level math courses for math majors at your CC before transfer, and continuing on to more advanced math courses like real analysis after transfer.

Don’t you think that UCLA and UCB keep admissions records? Their AD-coms know that students try to game the system all of the time.
