Just a quick question--I applied into NU's School of Education and Social Policy as a social policy major and I wanted to know how easily can you transfer to another school or double major in an area outside of your school? If accepted, I fully intend to stay a social policy major but at the same time, I think I want to double major (or minor) in econ or in journalism. (Think: Nicholas Kristof) I realize that Medill is amazing (which is kind of a good reason to take advantage of the opportunities right?) so would it be impossible to double major/minor in journalism? Any advice? :)

bumppping this up

Medill classes have very strict enrollment so the school doesn’t take transfers easily.

You can easily double-major in SESP and econ (or another WCAS major).

To major in journalism you have to be enrolled in Medill. And while you can take journalism classes, no minor is offered. As Sam Lee mentions, if enrolled in SESP adding a WCAS minor or a second major (econ or otherwise) is very doable.

And while hard, its certainly doable to transfer into Medill. I know at least a couple people who have.

Don’t forget the Integrating Marketing Communications (IMC) certificate:
