Transferring Within the University

If I apply to the College of Arts and Sciences, would I still be able to take classes at some of the other colleges? Currently, I really don't know what I want to major in, so it's really important that I would be able to explore my options through a broad variety of classes. And if I do choose a major not offered at the CAS (engineering, for example), would I be able to transfer to another college fairly easily? Thanks

yes on the first, a "sometimes" on the second

gomestar, what do you mean by sometimes?

sometimes - sometimes you can transfer from college to college pretty easily, and sometimes you cannot. It depends on any number of factors. It's pretty easy to transfer into CAS from any major, but transferring into engineering or AAP can be a tough task.

why would transferring into engineering be hard though? Just take engineering requirement classes and do well in them, you are pretty much guaranteed I think.

"Just take engineering requirement classes and do well in them, you are pretty much guaranteed I think."

you somehow missed the point - even though you highlighted it. The need to wait several semesters to take extra engineering classes so you can transfer into the school is what makes it less than "easy". For CAS, you can just fill out a sheet.
