I currently attend a Florida community college that has the "direct connect" deal with UCF, but I will only have 44 credits at the end of this semester, and I don't have any college level science or math courses.

My grades were not very good in high school, and up until last semester my overall GPA was 2.75. However I pulled myself together and I'm getting straight A's this semester which will bring my GPA up to a 3.1. I got a 1620 on my SAT and I have 5 or 6 small community service extracurriculars (volunteering with animal shelter, homeless shelter volunteer, church stuff). I will also have 2 very good recommendations from my current teachers, and I've already written a fantastic essay.

I'm going to apply to UCF as soon as I get my grades in early May (application deadline is July 1). What are my chances of getting in? I'm really afraid that they're going to come back and say "oh you're already at community college, you should finish your AA then reapply". I REALLY don't want to do this because by the time I get my AA I will be 23, and I also hate my current school. Bullying, etc. I would apply to UF also but they say on their website that they are not accepting transfers with less than 60 credits.

But anyway, I'm getting very nervous that they will force me to stay at my school for another year. I'm hoping they will see that I've been improving my grades and admit me based on that.

And one last question, would I be more likely to be accepted to Communications rather than Finance since I don't have the math requirements?

Thanks for any input.
