Transferring

I am currently a freshman at Cornell and I am considering transferring. My first semester GPA should probably be around a 3.0, depending on finals. I'm currently enrolled in an 18 credit course load. I don't know too much about transferring, but I plan on doing some research over break. My question is how much do colleges weight the first semester GPA for transfer students? Is it that important? My high schol average was around 105 with 8 AP classes (out of 10 available). My first semester GPA has strongly been affected by the fact that I am not particularly happy at Cornell.

Thanks.

for transfer students, college gpa is the most important factor when it comes to admissions.

A GPA like that is probably but not necessarily going to keep you out of HYS and the other schools that are most competitive for transfer. But there are still plenty of top 15 or top 20 schools that you have a good shot at. Cornell is known as a hard-grading school. Also, as a freshman transfer, I think your high school profile is easily just as important as your single semester in college.

I agree that gpa is the most important factor for a transfer student however if everything else is well; like your high school record...then you might fare well at a top 15 or 20 school...I agree with rockofeller
