Hi, I’m considering transferring from Indiana University and I was wondering what the process is like and my chances of acceptance.

In my first semester at IU, I’ve gotten a 3.838 GPA and been involved in some clubs. I’m looking to major in Business(Most likely finance). My GPA should remain high after second semster (Atleast 3.7+) and I’ve been trying to get involved in more leadership clubs.

Also, I’m concerned that about how many credits would transfer and how far behind I would be compared to other students.

Does Highschool GPA factor in for sophomore transfer students?

This may not be the answer you want to here, but CSOM isn’t accepting any transfers for the class of '16. They had more people accept their offer than they expected and decided not to allow transfers from inside BC or outside into CSOM. As for a source on my info, I was on campus this weekend meeting with a professor in CSOM who is a family friend and she told us about the issue.

I am a current freshman at Boston College’s CSOM and would like to tell you that the above poster is correct. My friend wants to transfer from Duke to Boston College CSOM because of some family difficulties, and has a 3.5 GPA at Duke. I talked to the Dean and he said that usually, Boston College aims at having a class of 480 freshman CSOM students, but this year 620 accepted their spots in CSOM. So if you want to come to Boston College, you will not be able to go to the Business School, however you can take up to 6 classes in the Business School from other colleges within the University.

You could study something like Math and Economics in the College of Arts and Science and if you chose you’re 6 CSOM classes wisely, would be taking close to the same courses that a regular Business student would take. You could also enroll in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development and double major in Applied Psychology and Human Development and be able to minor in a special minor in CSOM called “Management and Leadership” and take the same route as a Business education.

Can anybody verify this? I called admissions today and they stated that they ARE accepting apps for CSOM. I know they might be saying that for the one in a hundred candidate but this seems really unconfirmed?

Dear hoosier54 and Bus2012DVC : It is absolutely true that the current freshman year quota in CSOM is substantially oversubscribed (Class of 2016) which implies that both transfer opportunities will be exceptionally limited and the selection process for the next class (Class of 2017) will receive additional scrutiny. You are strongly advised to contact the program in which you have an interest in parallel with the admissions office to determine if there is ANY space much less how much space for CSOM transfers.
