Transferring

Hello
I go to College Prep School. I’m a highschool senior. My gpa is a 2.3. I am a ohio resident and a South Sudanese and Usa citizen. I was wondering if I spent one year at Kent State and received a 3.9-4.0 gpa would I be able to tranfer after a yeer and then attend a top non-ivy league school.

It’s possible, but realize that financial aid isn’t as generous for transfers and the likelihood of going from a 2.3 to a 4.0 is very small unless there are extenuating circumstances that explain such a low GPA - that isn’t due to weak study skills, language barriers, etc…

Frankly, if you get into Kent State and are making a 4.0, you might be well served to stay there and capitalize on your success, developing faculty relationships, getting invested in the student community, figuring out your niche, etc… You can get a great education at Kent State. And there is always graduate school if you turn into an academic star and want to go somewhere ‘shinier.’ The last school on your resume is the one that carries the most weight long term.

OK thanks

I mean that I have a 2.3 in highschool as a senior

I think @N’s mom understood that. You intend to jump more than 1.5 GPA points with a harder curriculum.
