Transferring?

I’m going to a school about 45 min away from home. I hate living in the dorms and the campus is small, making me feel very confined. It’s near the city so there’s still stuff to do, but I don’t really love the city either. It’s too far to commute because I’d then have to deal with rush hour traffic. I know there are many pros and cons for living at home and commuting to a school, but would it be worth it to transfer to a nearby school? And if so how would I talk to my parents about it?

I also forgot to mention that I want to major in education. I’d want to teach in my home state, where I’d need a masters and a certification here anyway, and the school I’d transfer to has a 5 year program.

Just in response to how you’d bring it up to your parents, explain how transferring can benefit your long-term career plans, be a good fit academically and socially and that should be enough.
