I got deferred Early Action to UNC this year and am thinking about transferring after my freshman year elswhere. I could either attend Miami of Ohio (Honors Program and small scholarship, very good school), or my second choice Bowling Green (Honors Program, Full tuition scholarship, not very prestigious). I would like to apply to the UNC Business school when I transfer, and I would also like to know my chances for it. What do you guys think I should do, or even if I will get in.

Ohio, Male
ACT: 31 SAT:1430
H.S. GPA 4.3 W 3.98 UW

can't help you much there. All I know is that its easier to get into carolina, if your out of state, as a transfer. Because the "80% must be in state rule" only applies to the incoming freshmen class. I have a lot of friends who want to apply for the UNC business school, and some of them are transfers that came here to apply to the business school. But i'm no business major so I'm sorry I can't really give any advice here.

So, I can transfer and apply to the business school right away and be on track with everyone else right?

yes, cause you apply to the business school at the end of your sophmore year. So you can transfer to UNC at the end of you freshmen year and you'll be right with everone else.

My only worry, no matter how I got into UNC, Whether freshman or transfer is that I will not get into the business school and then will be stuck.

well maybe you won't want to keep buisness as a major. A lot of college students go into college with a fixed major and then change their mind. For example, I was a bio major, I really liked biology and I've planned to be premed for over 5 years. since 7th grade I knew i wanted to be a bio major, but now I'm a psych major. There's a lot of good majors out there.

yea, you would have the same chance as all the kids who had their freshman year at UNC too. I'd say go for it because while its hard to get into, its definitley not impossible and as an out of stater you have an advantage, most of the instate people who got in out of hs had 1300 SATs and don't take UNC as seriously. I just know soo many straight A students from my highschool who got to UNC and partied a lot and got Cs and Bs.

well im going to Miami (OH). I am leaning away for transferring though, but we'll see. Miami is awesome.
