transferring

i have a bit of a dilemma. should i go to a 4 year university known as umkc which is a third tier school or should i go to a junior college such as mt sac and then transfer to ucla, btw mt sac is the number one transfer school. i do not want to stay at umkc does anyone know if i have a good chance if i were to transfer from there to ucla or cal. i was accepted to uci but waited to long to send my sir form in so i have to appeal to go there now.

-thanks

it's a difficult choice that only you can make. (what is umkc?)

But, if you go the Mt. Sac route, do they have an honors program? What is their transfer rate into UCLA? Do you have any/emough AP's such that you could transfer in one year vs. 2?

fwiw: I think Santa Monica CC claims to have the highest transfer rate into UCLA (in terms of sheer numbers), but other local community colleges also place well (in terms of %'s).

umkc = university of missouri kansas city

Do you qualify for the honors program at Mt. SAC? if so, i would recommend doing it, because it has a pretty good transfer rate. it's not #1 as you claim though, santa monica college holds that title, and they SPECIALIZE in transferring to UCLA. but going to UMKC won't open as many opportunities as going to mt. sac first and then transferring to a UC. i personally know friends at mt. sac who have transferred to berkeley, so i know it's quite possible to get into berkeley/ucla or any of the other UCs. at worst case scenario, you transfer from mt.sac to a cal state, which is somewhat like saying going to UMKC except you save a lot more money and your recruiters and future job will come from california instead of missouri/kansas (okay, i personally think living in california is better).
