<p>I'm back! For those of you who remember me... :P I posted a lot last year when I was applying and was ultimately waitlisted. SUPER depressing. But anyway. </p>
<p>I'm at another small LAC now (Kalamazoo) and while it's a really great fit academically, I'm not as happy as I could be socially. I'm applying to transfer a couple of places and I kept coming back to Carleton. So I thought, why not give it another shot? </p>
<p>I haven't seen much recent info about transferring to Carleton around here, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice or insights to the transfer process as it pertains to Carleton.</p>
<p>Yeah I know the transfer rate is scarily low… eek. </p>
<p>Anyway, it’s kind of weird. I’m doing an internship with Disney next fall, and there’s a good chance it will end up being a full year thing. So essentially, I’d take the year off and apply for sophomore entry in Fall 2011. </p>
<p>There are a couple of other places I’m applying as well, so we’ll see where I end up! I might just stay at K. Who knows.</p>
<p>I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what specifically are the reasons you would like to transfer? I am about 90% sure that I am going to Carleton, but because of mostly financial reasons, there is a chance that I will go to my second choice, Kalamazoo. I’ve read some of your posts in the K boards. You seemed to really like it, so I’m just wondering what has changed your opinion.</p>
<p>Nothing really changed it per se, I just realized I wasn’t as happy here socially as I could be… so now I’m looking to see if there’s a better fit for me out there overall. That’s basically the only issue. So if things don’t work out with my transfer applications, I’m content staying here. But I want my college experience to be more than just … content in certain areas. Does that make sense? </p>
<p>I’m looking at a wide range of schools, and my top 3 choices are very competitive to transfer into. With Carleton, the only real difference is 300 extra students and a different “vibe.” And that’s what I feel like I’m missing here, so I figured I’d give it a shot. :)</p>
<p>Your stats and everything were obviously fine the first time around since you got on the waitlist, but your Disney internship sounds like it will be a REALLY cool experience, and I think it might give you an edge if you decide to try to transfer. Keep us posted–I think it’s safe to say that everybody on the Carleton CC forum is rooting for you. :)</p>
